George and Amal Clooney have left their home in southern France as wildfires sweep through the region, but say they're not abandoning the town they recently made their primary base. In a letter to the mayor of Brignoles, shared by George Clooney's rep, the couple said they had evacuated and didn't know whether their farm would survive, reports USA Today. Per the letter:

  • "At this point we have no idea whether our beautiful home makes it through this terrible moment. As we evacuate Brignoles we want to emphasise 2 things, first we hope you and the people of our city are safe and second that Amal and I are committed to making sure that whatever happens to our village, we are part of this community and we'll be part of making it whole. We love Brignoles and our friends who live there."

The Clooneys, who became French citizens in 2025 and live there with their 9-year-old twins, chose the area for its slower pace and relative indifference to fame. "I felt like they were never going to get a fair shake at life," George Clooney said last year of the prospect of raising his kids in Los Angeles, per EW. "France—they kind of don't give a s--- about fame. I don't want them to be walking around worried about paparazzi. I don't want them being compared to somebody else's famous kids." The evacuation comes as heat-driven fires force thousands from homes across southern Europe, including parts of France, Spain, and Greece.
