A bus crash on a major East Coast artery has left five people dead and more than 30 injured, reports WJLA. Virginia State Police say the bus struck six vehicles on I-95 about 2:35am in Stafford County, just south of the Quantico exit. "The preliminary investigation indicates that traffic was slowing southbound for an upcoming work zone," says a state police news release, per the AP. The "bus failed to slow for traffic," it adds.
Thirty-four people were taken to hospitals, including three in critical condition. All five fatalities were from the vehicles struck by the bus. The identities of the victims and details about the bus operator have not yet been released as the investigation continues.
