Bonnie Tyler is out of a medically induced coma, but her team says the singer still faces a slow climb back to health, USA Today reports. The 75-year-old "Total Eclipse of the Heart" star remains in intensive care in Portugal, according to a June 15 update on her website from her spokesperson and family, who describe her as "very unwell" but gradually improving. Doctors are said to be optimistic about her long-term recovery, though it is expected to take time. Tyler's home is in Portugal, the Guardian reports.
Tyler was placed in the coma following emergency intestinal surgery, as announced in early May. The health crisis has wiped out her touring schedule through August 2026: all current shows are canceled or pushed to next year, with her team saying they remain "hopeful" that autumn dates will proceed. Those shows are currently scheduled to start in October, People reports. Tyler's team apologized to fans and promoters, asking for patience "in these difficult circumstances," and noted Tyler is aware of the support and "very grateful" for it. The Welsh singer, who was made a Member of the Order of the British Empire in 2023, told Hello! magazine in March that she was enjoying performing and felt "fit enough at the moment."
