Metallica's latest stop in Wales came with more than pyrotechnics and power chords. The metal band quietly sent £20,000, or more than $26,000, to the Cardiff Foodbank before a sold-out show there on Sunday, reports the BBC. The gift came through the band's All Within My Hands foundation. "We had an email saying, 'This isn't a scam, please get in touch with the foundation'," says Rachel Biggs, CEO of the foodbank. "They said, 'We are going to donate £20,000 to you'."
The gift will translate into about 9,000 meals, says Biggs. It comes two weeks after the shelter made a public appeal for help because of empty shelves, notes Yahoo News. Taylor Swift also made a donation to the center after performing at the same Wales venue, Principality Stadium, in 2024. Metallica launched its foundation in 2017.
