An Idaho mother who publicly blamed routine immunizations for the sudden deaths of her 18-month-old twins is now accused of killing them. Andrea Shaw, 23, has been indicted by a grand jury on two counts of first-degree murder in the May 2025 deaths of Tyson and Dallas, who were found dead in a shared bed at the family's home in Payette, Idaho, the Guardian reports. Police said at the time they were treating the case as a homicide. Days after the twins died, Shaw and her husband appeared on a podcast produced by Children's Health Defense, the anti-vaccine group led by Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. before he joined the administration.
Shaw and her husband told the podcast that vaccines given at an 18-month checkup had caused the deaths. Shaw said the twins died in their sleep days after they were vaccinated for diseases including the flu, the AP reports. "They had got their shots at the same time by two nurses at the same time," Shaw said. "And they got sick." A related online fundraiser brought in more than $10,000. The indictment alleges Shaw suffocated the toddlers. She was arrested on June 30 by Boise police officers and is being held on $2 million bond.
Joseph Filicetti, Shaw's lawyer, told KTVB that he still believes vaccines killed the twins, though he was unable to provide evidence. He said Shaw gave birth to another baby, three weeks premature, days before her arrest. The AP reports that Shaw is a plaintiff in a lawsuit brought by Children's Health Defense against the American Academy of Pediatrics, which accuses the group of playing a "central role in an enterprise that has defrauded American families about the safety of the childhood vaccine schedule for several decades."
