Carville: Networks Blew It by Not Airing Trump Speech

President Trump is angry and threatening retribution at the networks that refused to carry his prime-time speech Thursday night. Turns out, he has a surprising person in his corner who agrees the networks made a mistake: James Carville. In an interview with Wolf Blitzer on CNN Friday, the Democratic strategist said CNN, ABC, and NBC should have aired the speech in full, reports Mediaite. However, he has a much different reason than Trump about why it was an error in judgment: "I think the president of the United States acting loonier than a tune is newsworthy," he said.

Pressed by Blitzer on whether he was really arguing for giving Trump more airtime, Carville was unequivocal: yes. Partial clips, he said, fuel claims of unfair editing, while full coverage would let Americans "see him in full" and judge for themselves. He cited reports that Trump's own aides had urged him not to appear "crazy" and said the episode underscored that there is "nothing normal" about the president's conduct.
