Colorado Family Has Goldilocks Moment, in Reverse

Breakfast at the England family's house in Colorado Springs recently came with an uninvited guest: a bear helping itself in the kitchen. Home security video from July 21 shows the animal strolling in through a back door left open for airflow and heading straight for the food, per Storyful. Mom Nerissa England said she'd heard a loud bang that morning and at first thought a fallen picture had caused the noise—until her 8-year-old daughter, Zara Lee, went downstairs and found the bear right outside the kitchen door, snacking on trash and Flintstones vitamins it had grabbed off the dining room table.

England said her husband and daughter managed to drive the animal off by opening the door and making noise. The family says it won't completely shy away from leaving doors open to relieve the heat, but they will keep closer tabs on entry points from now on, per KOAA. "We felt a little invaded," Nerissa England says. As for Zara Lee, who one day wants to be an animal photographer, she notes she feels "kind of better that [the bear is] gone." Wildlife officials say bears are increasingly entering homes nationwide as drought conditions wipe out much of their natural food supply, Fox News notes.
