The New York City Police Department has released images and a video of a woman wanted for questioning in the abandonment of a newborn girl at the 34th Street-Penn Station subway station on Monday. The woman was seen walking on 34th Street and 7th Avenue holding a bundle wrapped in cloth, the New York Post reports. Police say it is a child endangerment case, reports the AP. Authorities say the infant, who was found during morning rush hour wrapped in blankets, with her umbilical cord still attached, was taken to a hospital for evaluation and is in stable condition. Demetrius Crichlow, president of New York City Transit, says he's calling it the "Miracle on 34th Street."

Authorities made a most unexpected find during the hustle and bustle of morning rush hour in New York City: a newborn baby, all by herself, at Penn Station. The newborn girl was reportedly found unattended around 9:30am Monday at the 34th Street-Penn Station stop. While some reports indicated the infant was found on a train platform, the NYPD said she was found on the steps leading to the southbound 1, 2, and 3 trains, per CBS News. The infant was stable and alert and taken to Bellevue Hospital for an evaluation. Authorities have yet to identify the child or her parents, per the New York Daily News.
