Chelsea Clinton crossed the Boston Marathon finish line Monday under an alias—but there was nothing incognito about the welcome committee, WCVB reports. The 46-year-old was met on Boylston Street by parents Bill and Hillary Clinton, with the former president placing her finisher's medal around her neck as runners and spectators snapped photos nearby. As NBC Boston reports, Clinton's bib number was registered to Margaret Smith—seemingly a reference to a Maine congresswoman who was the first woman to serve in both the House of Representatives and the Senate. She was also the first woman to actively seek the presidential nomination of a major political party, and was featured in the book Clinton and mom Hillary co-wrote, The Book of Gutsy Women.
Clinton completed the course in 3:40:52, improving on her 2025 New York City Marathon time of 3:44:22. She was caught on video telling her parents she fell and bloodied her hand on mile 23, People reports. The author and Clinton Foundation vice chair was one of several familiar faces in the race, joined by retired astronaut Suni Williams, ex-Boston Bruins captain Zdeno Chara, former US soccer standout Kristine Lilly, Dropkick Murphys musician Jeff DaRosa, former NBA player Chris Herren, Boston comedian Laura Green, and Love Island USA Season 7 winner Bryan Arenales.
