Reality TV has lost one of its longtime personalities in the Arizona desert. Darrell "The Gambler" Sheets, a core figure on A&E's Storage Wars, was found dead early Wednesday at his Lake Havasu City home, police say. He was 67. Officers responding around 2am discovered Sheets with what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to local authorities, who say the case remains under investigation and are asking anyone with information to contact them at 928-855-1171, per USA Today.
Sheets, born in California in 1958, became a fan favorite across 163 episodes of Storage Wars, known for his risk-heavy bidding style that earned him his nickname. He stepped back from the show after a 2019 heart attack, later relocating to Arizona, where he ran an antiques shop. TMZ, which is now recirculating its final on-camera chat with Sheets in 2016, also has pics of a cheerful-looking Sheets from the hours before his death, hanging out at his shop.
Page Six notes that his last Facebook post, showing him walking his dog, was made in early February. A&E said it was "saddened by the passing of a beloved member of our Storage Wars family" and extended condolences to his loved ones. Sheets is survived by two children, including his son Brandon, who appeared alongside him on the series, and a granddaughter, per People.
