Hawaii's Big Island is on edge as police hunt a 36-year-old man suspected in the murders of three older men over two days. Police say the homicides, all in the rural Puna area, involve a single suspect: Jacob "Jake" Baker of Pahoa, reports ABC News. The first victim, a 69-year-old man, was found Monday evening partially submerged in a cement pond at his home, say authorities. The following day, officers discovered a 79-year-old man dead from apparent blunt-force injuries at a residence just a few hundred feet away. That night, a second 69-year-old man was found dead roughly 19 miles from the first two scenes.
Investigators say they've identified no motive and no link among the victims beyond the proximity of their homes. One resident in the area tells Hawaii News Now that Baker "was having a lot of confrontations with the people that stay here. He was being basically evicted. ... He had some odd behavior, like showing me his sword knife." Authorities say they consider Baker to be armed and dangerous and urge anyone who spots him to stay away and call 911.
