Chris Brown Pleads Guilty in 'Unprovoked' Club Attack

Chris Brown's latest legal twist now has him admitting to a nightclub melee in London—but to a lesser charge than he once faced. The Guardian reports that the 37-year-old singer pleaded guilty Friday to "affray" over a 2023 confrontation at Tape, a private members' club in Mayfair, after a performance at Principality Stadium in Cardiff. Prosecutors had called the incident an "unprovoked attack." Brown, arrested in May while on his Breezy Bowl tour and briefly jailed, is out on bail and due for sentencing in October.

Prosecutors say Brown twice struck music producer Abraham Diaw in the head with a tequila bottle before Diaw was punched and kicked while on the floor. More serious charges of assault, suspicion of grievous bodily harm, and possession of an offensive weapon against Brown and co-defendant and vocal coach Omololu Akinlolu were dropped with the plea, notes Rolling Stone. The case adds to a long record of legal trouble, including his 2009 assault on then-partner Rihanna.
