Fake Confession Track Adds to D4vd's Troubles

D4vd didn't confess to murder over the weekend, though it might've appeared that way to anyone who visited his Apple Music page. The page briefly featured a track titled "I Did It," with artwork showing the abandoned Tesla where police say they found the body of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez, reports the BBC. The US singer, born David Anthony Burke, has pleaded not guilty to charges he murdered and sexually abused the teenager, who was just 11 when their interactions allegedly began, per KTLA.

The fake song, apparently a reworked version of an unreleased 2023 track known as "Celeste," featured a voice similar to D4vd's "professing his love for the victim" and noting that she has his name tattooed on her body, per TMZ. It was quickly taken down, as was another apparently bogus track that appeared earlier this month on D4vd's Spotify account, per NewsNation. The apparent hack came as other major artists, including Ariana Grande, also saw unauthorized tracks appear on their Apple Music profiles. D4vd remains jailed, without access to his music pages. Prosecutors laid out evidence against him during a preliminary hearing last week.
