Good Good Golf is walking back its ad for a new driver that viewers swiftly flagged as out of bounds. The since-deleted video, posted Friday, showed a male co-founder of Good Good knocking a woman to the ground as she reaches for his golf bag, and warning, "Do not touch my new driver." The ad came down less than a day later, replaced by a company apology, reports Golf Channel: "We posted a video to our channels that ultimately depicted actions that are not aligned with our values as a brand," it reads. "We have since taken that content down and sincerely apologize."
Also not thrilled: Callaway Golf, maker of the driver that was being advertised. Callaway said it was "disappointed" by the ad but appreciated that Good Good addressed it so quickly. The man in the ad who knocked the woman down is Garrett Clark, a co-founder of the firm, notes the Athletic. The woman is Alexis Miestowski, a former Division I golfer who works with the brand as an influencer.
Good Good began as a YouTube golf channel but has since morphed into a full-fledged media company whose logo appears on Callaway products as part of a branding deal. It's one of the sport's "buzziest startups," according to Inc., and it's particularly popular with young golfers. Good Good is sponsoring a PGA Tour event in Texas in November.
