A Pennsylvania mother says a "wrong turn" after a night out ended with police fatally shooting her unarmed son. Authorities in Montgomery County say officers responded just after midnight on Sunday to a 911 call of a possible break-in at a home in Upper Pottsgrove Township and encountered a man behind the residence, per Fox News. Prosecutors say Glenwood "Bubba" Pysher IV, 22, was shot and killed during an "encounter"; the district attorney has released few details, citing an active investigation.
Pysher's mother, Erin, says her son had been "bar-hopping with friends" and left to walk to a friend's house. "After some drinks, he ended up walking in the dark at night," she tells ABC News. "I guess he got mixed up, and he made a wrong turn and went to the wrong house." She says he rang the doorbell, then knocked on the back door and asked to be let in. After he took video of his location and sent it to his friends, they informed him he was at the wrong residence and said they'd come get him, Erin Pysher notes.
"His friends were on the way to pick him up when the cops, they said, went flying by them," she says, adding that her son was unarmed and "shot twice" by an officer. Pysher was a college baseball player who'd played at several schools and was set to start his senior year at St. Elizabeth University in New Jersey, according to his obituary. He'd hoped to become a history teacher and baseball coach, per his mom. The officer involved has been placed on administrative leave while investigators review the shooting.
