Alanis Morissette says a onetime member of her touring team tried to turn an airport drug scare into a long-term payday. In a new federal lawsuit, the singer accuses former tour manager Keren Urinov of launching a "calculated blackmail campaign" after allegedly being detained in 2025 at a UK airport with a bag that authorities said contained marijuana and xylazine. The lawsuit obtained by Rolling Stone blames "a disgruntled former tour manager," and says that "Morissette will not agree to work with an incompetent blackmailer for the next fifteen years or pay her a ransom under the gun."

According to the complaint, Urinov initially told officials the bag and drugs were hers, but later sent Morissette "increasingly extortionate" letters demanding a 15-year job contract, significant compensation, and an immigration lawyer. Urinov is an Israeli live music exec, notes Billboard. Morissette says Urinov also pressed her to tell British authorities that the drugs belonged to the singer and implied she'd accuse Morissette of trafficking if she refused. Morissette is suing for civil extortion, fraud, and negligent misrepresentation, and is seeking a jury trial and damages.
