Police in Northern California say a couple in their late 70s fatally shot their own son-in-law in broad daylight at a crowded suburban sports complex. Officers in Dublin say 40-year-old Jonathan McKinsey was killed in the parking lot of Dublin Sports Grounds about 3pm Saturday, reports the San Francisco Chronicle. Police say multiple witnesses helped them quickly arrest married couple Shouyong Zhang and Shili Chen of Dubliln, both 77. The pair, still near the scene, were arrested on suspicion of murder and booked into Santa Rita Jail, per the Los Angeles Times. Witnesses tell KTVU-TV that they took turns firing the weapon.

Police did not speculate about a possible motive in the killing of McKinsey, who had worked as director of engineering for New York Times Games. A neighbor tells the Chronicle that he had recently moved out of the home he had shared with his wife and three children. "This place is busy on a Saturday," witness Kevin Stein told KTVU. "It's incredible that they'd just do that right in front of everybody."
