Louisiana State University has sidelined two fraternities over hazing claims that include pledges being "actively water boarded" and breaking bones. Delta Kappa Epsilon (DKE) and Phi Gamma Delta (FIJI) are on interim suspension while the school investigates, LSU confirmed to Fox News. A Sept. 3 complaint against DKE came from an anonymous roommate of a pledge who said the student was forced to do wall sits while water was poured over his face, WAFB reports. Another complaint alleges "a pledge's collarbone ended up breaking," per the outlet.
DKE members were issued seven misdemeanor hazing citations, reports WBRZ. The fraternity is no stranger to serious hazing incidents, receiving a 10-year suspension in 2019, though it was allowed to return to campus last fall. Its international office says it is aware of the allegations, is cooperating with authorities, and will "take appropriate action" once the facts are established. A separate complaint, also filed anonymously, alleges FIJI pledges were made to chug a gallon of chocolate milk until many vomited, resulting in two members being cited. Pledges were also allegedly told to show up with a squirrel, and when they didn't, punished by standing for two hours with their hands in the air.
