A nearly yearlong run from authorities ended about 15 miles from where it began. Police in Lowell, Massachusetts, on Wednesday arrested 29-year-old Daquhan Cromer, who New Hampshire officials say had been evading capture since escaping from state prison and whom they've tied to multiple felony cases in Salem. Police said Cromer slipped away from officers there on Tuesday night, prompting an overnight shelter-in-place order, NBC News reports. Investigators then traced him to a home in Lowell that officers surrounded around midday.

"They were able to track him down to a residence … and he was inside," Salem police Lt. Robert Kirley told reporters. Cromer surrendered without incident. He's to face a fugitive-from-justice charge in Lowell, and Salem police plan to seek extradition on other charges, per WXFT. When he escaped on Dec. 1, Cromer was being held on a simple assault charge, per WBTS; police said he's suspected in multiple felonies.
