McCain Misses 42nd Straight Senate Vote

John McCain missed his 42nd straight Senate roll call yesterday, marking a whopping five weeks in a row that he hasn't showed up to be counted. If he misses the next three votes, he will have been AWOL for 50% of the votes in the 110th Congress, the Washington Post notes.

Sure, McCain is busy running for president, but other candidates in the Senate at least try to keep their seats warm: Sam Brownback's track record is a little better, although he is also a significant absentee, and Hilary and Barack have only missed 1.8% and 6.4% of votes, respectively. "The Senator has not missed a vote where his vote would have affected the outcome," says McCain's campaign.
