Officials on Tuesday identified Brittany Clark of Orlando as the victim of a Sunday alligator attack in Florida's Little Big Econ State Forest. WESH reports she was in about three feet of water near the Barr Street Trailhead when an alligator bit her, severing one of her arms and nearly severing the other, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said. She died en route to a hospital. Clark's boyfriend, Chance Allison, was in the water with her. He said she "loved going out on the water every chance she could. Never in a million years would we have seen this nightmare come about." A GoFundMe campaign seeks funds to return her remains to her parents in California.

A dip in a central Florida river ended in tragedy Sunday when a woman was fatally attacked by an alligator, state wildlife officials said. The 31-year-old, who has not been publicly identified, was in the Econlockhatchee River near the Barr Street Trailhead in Little Big Econ State Forest when she was bitten, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission said, per NBC News. She'd been hiking with her boyfriend and a friend when the group waded into the water to cool off, the FWC said, despite what WESH reports are numerous signs warning of alligators in the area.
They were reportedly kneeling in shallow water when the alligator lunged. Screaming and crying could be heard on the 911 call as a witness reported that "both her arms are off, like, basically," per NBC. The woman reportedly died before reaching a hospital. Two alligators, 12 feet and 13 feet long, were later removed from the area. The commission offered condolences to the woman's family and noted that serious alligator-related injuries remain uncommon in the state. However, this was the third reported alligator attack in a week in Central Florida—and the second in a 24-hour period, per WESH.
