After being kept under wraps for months, the autopsy report on the 14-year-old girl singer D4vd is charged with killing has been released. Celeste Rivas Hernandez died of "multiple penetrating injuries caused by objects," per the report from the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office; her death was ruled a homicide. The AP reports a judge in November ordered the report sealed, but prosecutors this week agreed to the Wednesday release. NBC News reports she sustained two penetrating wounds to her torso as well as other wounds that penetrated her liver and chest, and that the autopsy was hampered by "extensive postmortem changes."
Her dismembered body was discovered in September 2025 in an abandoned Tesla at a Hollywood tow yard, more than a year after she was reported missing and one day after what would have been her 15th birthday. The AP reports her body had degraded to the point that her eye color could not be established. Two of her fingers were missing, as were parts of her arms and legs. Los Angeles County Chief Medical Examiner Dr. Odey Ukpo said in a statement that "it is unfathomable [Celeste's family] have had to wait this long to learn what happened to their daughter."
Prosecutors have charged D4vd, real name David Anthony Burke, 21, with first-degree murder, continuous sexual abuse, and mutilation of human remains. He has pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail; his attorneys say they will "vigorously defend his innocence." Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman alleges Burke killed Celeste to protect his music career, calling her a witness in a probe into alleged sexual acts with her when she was 13.
