While he waits for an answer from Pope Leo XIV, Stephen Colbert is planning to host the elite of late-night. CBS says he'll welcome Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel, John Oliver, and Seth Meyers on Monday, reuniting the "Strike Force Five" crew of hosts that launched a podcast during the 2023 Hollywood strikes to raise money for out-of-work writers. The episode will also feature a Broadway medley with Annaleigh Ashford, Christopher Jackson, Bernadette Peters, Ben Platt, and Patrick Wilson, Deadline reports.
Then comes the torch-passing guest many viewers have been waiting for: David Letterman, who's set to appear on Thursday's episode. The visit follows Letterman's recent criticism of CBS over the show's cancellation, in which he described executives as "lying weasels" regarding how the decision was made, per the New York Times. The Strokes will be the musical guest that night. John Krasinski, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Pedro Pascal, and Tom Hanks are also expected to appear before The Late Show signs off for good on May 21, per Variety. Byron Allen's Comics Unleashed will move into the 11:35pm slot.
