President Trump's weekend interview with Meet the Press didn't last as long as expected. "I've had enough," Trump told moderator Kristen Welker before walking off as their conversation turned contentious, reports Politico. The moment came after Welker pushed back on a number of assertions Trump made about the 2020 election, the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, and the recent California elections.
- Trump: "The election was rigged," he said of 2020. "It was a dirty election. And it's happening again right now in California."
- Welker: "Do you have evidence to support that?"
- Trump: "All I have to do is look."
- Welker: "But that's not evidence."
Trump called NBC News, Meet the Press, the rest of the mainstream media, and Welker herself "crooked." When she objected, he responded, "Really? Well, you play right into their hands then. You're either crooked or you're stupid." Trump ended the interview shortly after, notes Mediaite, which has the transcript. Watch the clip from NBC here.
