Spencer Pratt's hope of becoming the next mayor of Los Angeles may be slipping away. Los Angeles City Councilmember Nithya Raman has edged ahead of the former reality TV star in the mayoral primary, holding 27.1% of the vote to Pratt's 26.7%, reports the Los Angeles Times. Both are competing for a place in the Nov. 3 runoff against incumbent Mayor Karen Bass, who leads the field with 34.7% and has already secured her spot in the runoff.
Mail-in ballots will be accepted through Tuesday—provided they are postmarked by Election Day—but election analysts say the late-count trend points to Raman solidifying her grip on second place after trailing Pratt on election night. President Trump, meanwhile, called the counting of mail ballots in the state "rigged" to favor the progressive Raman over Pratt, who is a Republican. Trump offered no evidence when challenged on Meet the Press, but he stood by his position on Monday. "No way this could have happened," he wrote on Truth Social, referring to Raman.
