A Florida teen accused of killing his 18-year-old stepsister on a Carnival cruise will wait for trial behind bars, Fox News reports. A federal magistrate judge on June 10 revoked the release of 17-year-old Timothy Hudson—identified in court records only as T.H. because he is a minor—finding that no set of conditions could adequately protect the public now that he's being prosecuted as an adult. Hudson surrendered Monday, the AP reports. He has pleaded not guilty in the case, ABC News reports.
Hudson is charged with first-degree murder and aggravated sexual abuse in the November 7, 2025, death of Anna Kepner, who was found dead in the cabin they shared on a cruise bound for Miami. A medical examiner concluded she was sexually assaulted and then asphyxiated. Judge Edwin G. Torres noted Hudson had no criminal history, turned himself in, and had complied with strict release terms, but ruled that the alleged killing of a household member in a private living space was exactly the kind of risk electronic monitoring and home confinement "are least able to address." Torres cited concern Hudson could "make another very wrong decision" as a September trial nears, ordered a mental health evaluation, and directed that he be held in juvenile housing with access to lawyers, family contact, and treatment.
