You Know Him as David Bowie. Listen to Him as Davie Jones

Fans are about to hear David Bowie back when he still answered to Davie Jones. A new compilation, David Bowie: The Shel Talmy Recordings, will debut 10 previously unreleased tracks from the mid-1960s, billed by his label as the most complete snapshot of Bowie's work with producer Shel Talmy. The set features contributions from future Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page and session great Nicky Hopkins, reports the Guardian. One track, "I Want Your Love," is already on streaming platforms, and the full release lands Sept. 18. Music historian Alec Palao tells the BBC that the collection is a "primary chapter" in Bowie's evolution, recorded just before he adopted the name that would make him famous.
