Seattle Police: Teen's Ghost Gun Wasn't What Killed

Ballistics testing is adjusting the case against a 15-year-old accused in Sunday's deadly shooting at Seattle Center. Prosecutors say the rounds that killed two innocent bystanders do not match the ghost gun found on the teen, though they allege he fired into the Bite of Seattle crowd during a shootout. The AP reports testing on shell casings found at the scene suggest four weapons were fired, per court documents filed Wednesday. Police said they recovered three guns but only two had been fired, meaning two of the weapons used have yet to be found.

The teen, held in juvenile detention, is charged with first-degree assault and unlawful firearm possession; prosecutors are asking to move his case to adult court; it could take months for a decision to be reached, reports the Seattle Times. At least four people were wounded; a third 19-year-old victim was believed to be involved in the gunfight. Police say the shooting appears gang-related and they are looking for at least one other suspect.

The King County Medical Examiner's Office identified the dead bystanders as Carlos Israel Sanchez Villalba, 44, and Ashley Whitehead, 56. The suspect killed was Junior Cee Niko Semo, 19. The 15-year-old who is in custody surrendered when confronted by an officer. As police escorted him past Semo's body, he said, "Love you bro," Detective Matt Blackburn wrote in a statement.
