A northern Wisconsin school district is mourning a student-athlete who died after being hurt in a high school football game Thursday night. Alma Center Lincoln High School senior Adam Massman, 17, suffered an injury during a matchup against Turtle Lake and was taken from the field by EMTs to a hospital, District Superintendent Drew Semingson told families in a statement, per USA Today. The district did not disclose the nature of Massman's injury, citing the wishes of his family.
Semingson described Massman as deeply involved in school life, saying he played multiple sports, joined clubs, and "made friends everywhere he went." In addition to playing quarterback and defensive back, he was named to the 2025 Boys Basketball Academic All-State list. His teammates have already found a way to honor him: They painted his usual school parking spot, complete with Massman's own tire tracks and "LLA" for "Long live Adam," WSMV reports. The school has opened its doors to students, parents, and friends seeking counseling.
