A Brazilian fitness influencer's final post comparing life to a "bullet train" that could "drop you off at the eternal station" without warning came just days before she died during an Ironman triathlon in Texas, NBC News reports. Authorities on Monday identified the athlete as 38-year-old Mara Flavia Souza Araujo, who went missing during the swim portion of Ironman Texas in Lake Woodlands, near Houston, on Saturday. Click2Houston reports her body was found about 90 minutes later at the bottom of the lake, in around 10 feet of water, per the Montgomery County Sheriff's Office.
Araujo was an experienced triathlete with at least nine prior events and more than 60,000 Instagram followers; previous social media posts showed her with Ironman finisher medals, ABC News reports. Preliminary findings indicate she drowned. On Wednesday, she had shared a photo of herself on railroad tracks, urging followers in Portuguese to "enjoy this ride on the bullet train that is life" because "at any moment, the train will drop you off at the eternal station." Race organizers expressed condolences and said they are supporting her family and friends.
