Tourists and theatergoers in Times Square unwittingly shared the street Tuesday night with an abandoned infant in a stroller, police say. The little girl, variously reported to be 6 months or a year old, was discovered just after 11pm at West 44th Street and Broadway and appeared to be unharmed; she was taken to a hospital for evaluation, NBC News reports. The New York Post reports the stroller tipped over before the father left the child.

Police say surveillance video shows a man in jeans and a dark jacket pushing the stroller to the spot and then walking away. Law enforcement sources told local media the baby's parents may have argued on the No. 7 train and split up before the child was left behind. Authorities have not released a suspect description or confirmed the parents' identities, but ABC 7 reports police have contacted the child's mother. The city's Administration for Children's Services declined to comment. Anyone with information is urged to contact the NYPD's Crime Stoppers line at 1-800-577-TIPS.
