Unusual Heist Scores Truckload of Pabst Blue Ribbon

PBR fans, take note: Thieves just made off with a staggering amount of the stuff. Police in Montclair, California, are hunting for a truck loaded with more than 50,000 cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon that vanished after leaving a distribution center on Aug. 17, bound for Tucson, Arizona, reports USA Today. The load—about 40,000 pounds of beer worth roughly $45,000—never arrived. About an hour after that pickup by an apparently bogus driver, a second load, this one of Anheuser-Busch and more PBR worth about $25,000, was taken from the same facility using what police say were fake subcontractor papers. It's not clear yet if the two thefts are related.

Pabst has leaned into social media about the truck theft, notes WISN: "We don't fault you for wanting to brag to your friends how much PBR you have, we just wish you obtained it the honorable way," the brand wrote to the thief. It's also offering an unspecified reward for information and says the thief can return the truck and its cargo "no questions asked." Police might have a different view about that, however.
