Prince Harry is headed to London—but he'll have to find somewhere other than Buckingham Palace to stay, despite what his team said just hours earlier. Palace officials say the duke missed a deadline to confirm an offer to stay at a royal residence ahead of his UK visit this week, and was told on Saturday night that arrangements could no longer be made. They also say his team initially declined the invitation, then tried to reverse that decision too late, reports the BBC.

Harry's camp tells a different story, insisting the offer had been "formally accepted" before being "withdrawn at the last moment," a move they call "disappointing," per the Guardian. They also reject palace suggestions that the ruling in his case against Associated Newspapers due Tuesday played any role, after concerns were reportedly raised about the King Charles' constitutional position. The clash underlines the lingering mistrust between the Sussexes and the palace and may complicate a hoped-for meeting between Harry and Charles. Harry is still expected in London on Monday to promote next year's Invictus Games in Birmingham and attend charity events; Meghan and the couple's children are not joining him at the start of the trip amid ongoing security disputes.
