Musk Says Grok AI Will Make 'Historically Accurate' Odyssey

Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey has been a box-office smash, but Elon Musk apparently believes that what audiences really want is a Grokssey. Musk, who has repeatedly criticized Nolan's movie over its diverse casting, said in a post on X that his AI platform will generate a feature-length version of The Odyssey by year's end, the Guardian reports. He promised that the movie would be "true to the art of Homer" and "historically accurate," though the epic includes Greek gods, a cyclops, and a sorceress who transforms men into pigs.

He shared a user's three-minute Grok-made clip of Odysseus and Calypso as a taste of what he claims is coming. Musk has been attacking Nolan's movie since January, when it emerged that Lupita Nyong'o had been cast as Helen of Troy. Nolan recently said the backlash "comes with the territory," the Guardian reports. On AI in movie-making, the director said, "The idea that it replaces human beings wholesale and human creativity, to me it's a nonsense." The Hollywood Reporter predicts that the Grok version will make "Nolan's feat look even more of a masterpiece, especially since it was shot entirely on Imax film and used extremely little CGI."

Despite the criticisms that Musk has sought to amplify, Nolan's film opened to strong reviews, a $264 million global debut, and a 97% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. Deadline reports that in another post on X, Musk said he was "down" to give Mel Gibson $100 million to film an Odyssey adaptation with "dialogue taken straight from the original poem and delivered in Homeric Greek."

Odysseus is literally wearing foam earplugs to block out their song. The shadow of Hermes is depicted with giant, dovelike wings in the style of a biblical angel. Calypso is a strawberry blond, green-eyed dime with lip filler and a case of Instagram face. The characters deliver lines like emoting Sims."
