Matt Damon Had Female Stunt Double in Odyssey

Matt Damon says those attention-grabbing biceps in The Odyssey aren't always his. On the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the actor revealed that for one sequence involving the giant Laestrygonian warriors, a female stunt performer stepped in—specifically, her arms did. Damon explained that director Christopher Nolan used forced perspective with two sets of stunt workers: one group over 7 feet tall and another under 5 feet. For certain shots, that meant a female stunt double with what Damon called "the greatest arms I've ever seen" was standing in for him. He recalled meeting her in the catering tent and thanking her for the work her guns put in.

Damon estimates viewers are seeing his own arms "almost 100 percent" of the time, but "but you gotta give it up where it's due." Elle puts a name to those arms: 35-year-old Canadian Devyn Dalton, whose other credits include The Last of Us and The Fall of the House of Usher. The Odyssey, based on Homer's epic and starring Damon as Odysseus alongside Anne Hathaway and Tom Holland, has been a box office force since its July 17 release, pulling in more than $264 million worldwide in its opening weekend.
