Jay-Z's accuser now says the alleged assault never happened—and that she never even met him. The woman, identified in court papers as Jane Doe, has filed a sworn statement retracting her claims that Jay-Z (Shawn Carter) and Sean "Diddy" Combs drugged and raped her when she was 13, calling her prior allegations "false" and saying Carter "never engaged in any inappropriate conduct" toward her, reports the BBC. Per Doe's statement, obtained by Rolling Stone:
- "Shawn 'Jay-Z' Carter never raped me. I have never met or spoken to Mr. Carter. Mr. Carter never engaged in any inappropriate conduct toward me whatsoever," she wrote. "There is no truth to any of my claims against Mr. Carter. I understand my false accusations have caused Mr. Carter immense pain, suffering, and damage that can never be fully undone."
Doe says she was prompted by a Facebook ad seeking potential claims against Combs and alleges her lawyers, led by Tony Buzbee, filed the 2024 suit without proper investigation. Carter, who had called the case a "blackmail attempt," has dropped her from his lawsuit but continues to sue her former attorneys. Doe says she was not threatened or paid to recant.
