A parking lot death at a not-yet-open Costco in Camarillo, California, has led to a murder charge against a local rabbi. Deputies say they were called on Tuesday night about a man hit by a vehicle close to the store's gas pumps, reports the Los Angeles Times. Witnesses pointed them to driver Abba Bryski of Agoura Hills, who was detained at the scene. Jail records list his occupation as "Educator/Rabbi." Bryski, who KABC reports is 35 years old, was arrested around 8:40pm and booked early Wednesday on suspicion of felony murder and resisting or obstructing an officer or EMT.
The victim, identified only as a 28-year-old man from Modesto, was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. An autopsy is pending, and the Ventura County Sheriff's Major Crimes Bureau is investigating the death as a homicide. A court hearing is scheduled for Friday; the Ventura County Star reports that Bryski was being held on $3 million bail as of Wednesday. Anyone with info on the incident is asked to call police at 805-384-4729 or 805-384-4726.
