Jimmy Kimmel is stepping aside so Stephen Colbert can have the full spotlight. ABC confirms Jimmy Kimmel Live! will run a repeat on May 21, the night Colbert signs off from CBS after 11 seasons, a move Kimmel is making "out of deference" to Colbert's farewell. He made the same gesture in 2015 for David Letterman's final Late Show, reports Variety. For now, the Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon is still scheduled to air a new show in the 11:35pm time slot, notes LateNighter.
Colbert's closing stretch is stacked: Kimmel, Jimmy Fallon, Seth Meyers, and John Oliver will all appear Monday, reuniting the "Strike Force Five" podcast crew that raised money for their sidelined staff during 2023's dual Hollywood strikes. Letterman will guest Thursday, followed by starry drop-ins from John Krasinski, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Pedro Pascal, Tom Hanks, and more, plus special segments including a "Colbert Questionert" with former President Obama and a performance by the Strokes.
