A Pennsylvania minor league team just chose Pride Night over playing ball. The York Revolution on Thursday forfeited a home game rather than take the field after several players refused to wear jerseys with rainbow-accented sleeves, reports NBC News. "Unfortunately, several of our players have refused to wear the scheduled Pride Night jersey and the club decided that hosting the event is more important than forcing players to wear jerseys they are not comfortable with and playing the game," the team said.

In a statement, the Atlantic League club called the players' stance "completely inconsistent" with its goal of being "the Most Welcoming Place in York," and said "the decision was not reached lightly." The game against the Southern Maryland Blue Crabs was scratched, but the team opened the gates for free at WellSpan Park and Pride Night activities went ahead, notes the York Daily Record. The team also donated $10,000 to a local LGBTQ center. The decision comes days after four San Francisco Giants players quietly protested MLB Pride uniforms by writing Bible verses on their caps.
