Teen Girl Charged After Tackling Football Player

Football fans in Winchester, Tennessee, saw more than they bargained for at a middle-school game Tuesday night. A 16-year-old girl ran out of the stands and leveled a South Middle School player on the field, then shoved him down again after he stood up, according to video of the incident reviewed by TMZ. South Middle School was playing Cornersville Middle School in a home game at Franklin County High School, WSMV reports. Officials halted play, cleared the field and stands, and called police.

No injuries were reported, but the girl—a Marshall County Schools student—was arrested and faces assault and disorderly conduct charges, per WSMV. She has also been banned for life from all Franklin County School System properties and barred from Cornersville games for a year. She appeared to target a player involved in a brief on-field scuffle in the end zone following a South touchdown, and was knocked to the ground herself. The sheriff's office released her to her parents, who were also in attendance.
